1st Annual Convocation - 2017

On 14th August 2017, IIM Bodh Gaya celebrated the 1st Annual Convocation ceremony, where 30 students graduated and received their post graduate diplomas in management. The dignitaries present were Saibal Chattopadhyay, Mentor Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, Prasant Mishra, the Convenor of IIM Bodh Gaya and our chief guest Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of State for Human Resource Development.

Shri Saibal Chattopadhyay, emphasised on the gravity of this convocation, which served as a platform to communicate to the IIM Bodh Gaya’s stakeholders and well-wishers how well they fared during the year, and assure them that their entrusted responsibilities are being carried out satisfactorily. He also praised the first batch of IIM Bodh Gaya, who although facing teething troubles, didn’t deter their desire to learn. He also thanked the parents who allowed their wards to take a risk of joining a new institute, and to the Task Force Committee who, although having time constraints, designed the programme effectively, identified the apt faculty and made arrangement for catering, etc. He also thanked the HRD Ministry & Government of Bihar for constantly supporting them. On behalf of IIM Calcutta, he lauded their contribution in developing IIM Bodh Gaya and assured that the institute would be known for its excellence in the field of management education all around the world.

Our Chief Guest, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, declared his pride for being invited to the 1st Convocation Ceremony of IIM Bodh Gaya. He underlined the importance of management as a subject and pointed out its ever increasing demand. He also urged IIM Bodh Gaya to uphold the standards of an IIM, which has high expectations and is highly coveted in India. He also stated that the HRD ministry is taking steps to make management education more inclusive, assuring us that in a period of 15 years a contrasting change will occur which will cement the legacy of all new IIMs. Highlighting the historical and religious significance of Bodh Gaya, he ensured that IIM Bodh Gaya will help develop the city. Wishing all students for a bright future, while signing off, he appealed to all the students to usher the idea of plurality, such that all students can acquire coveted spots where they can solve problems of the country and help to uphold and to maintain the international standards of IIM.
